The calendar of Daily and Hourly events Celebrating 150 years of the Military in Queenscliff
September 17, 18 & 19, 2010
Parking will be available at the Marine Discovery Centre, the Old Queenscliff High school site (where the Bellarine Railway will bring you into town), the Bull Ring and Princes' Park. Parking will also be available in Point Lonsdale and McHarry's will be providing a shuttle service between the two towns.
Geelong Taxi Network will bring in all Veterans from around the Bellarine Peninsula. Please phone 131008 to book your ride.
9am - Hesse Street for Breakfast. Local Vendors providing exceptional coffee and taste delights along Hesse Street which will be closed to traffic.
9am - The Marine Discovery Centre Mobile 'Touch Tank' will be on display outside the Queenscliffe Historical Museum for the whole family to experience and enjoy.
11am - Street Parade. The Parade starts from the Bellarine Peninsula Railway end of Hesse Street and will march all the way to the gates of Fort Queenscliff. The Parade will feature the soldiers and Officers of the Soldier Career Management Agency, the Army Band Melbourne, the 2nd 10th Field Regiment Band, 4th 19th Prince of Wales Light Horse Band, members of the Queenscliff & Point Lonsdale R.S.L, The Queenscliff Lighthouse Theatre Group, 429 Squadron Air Cadets, Members of the Geelong Military Re-enactment Group, Historical Military Vehicles.
10am 12pm & 1pm - Guided Tour of Fort Queenscliff (Gold Coin Donation) Departing from the front gate of Fort Queenscliff
12 Noon - Enjoy lunch on Hesse Street and fill your bellies before making your way to the Gates of Fort Queenscliff, where you'll be met by Light horsemen.
12 Noon - RSL open to visitors.
ARMY GEDDON and PROJECT DIGGER on display
2pm - 7pm - Fort Queenscliff OPEN for visitors for a Gold Coin Donation.
2pm, 3pm & 4pm - Guided Tours of the Fort departs from the Lawn inside the front gate with Museum Tour Guides.
2pm - Fort Queenscliff Museum Open. Entry by Gold Coin Donation
Musical entertainment around the grounds including under the Black Lighthouse, on the lawn near the Keep, near the Flag Pole and the main stage on the Parade ground. Military History Re-enactment Groups.
2:15 – Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group perform in the Drill Hall.
2:15 – 2/10 Band concert by the Black Lighouse, featuring “Feu de Joie to Soldiers of the Queen” with Military History re-enactors.
3:30 – Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group perform in the Drill Hall.
3.30 - Firing of 8'' hydro Pneumatic Gun (Disappearing Gun).
4:15 - History of the Wars re-enactment at the West end of the Parade ground
5:00 - Prayer for the Troops on the Parade ground begins the concert
The grand finale will feature the Australian Army Band, Melbourne, performing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture accompanied by pyrotechnics. Concluding with the sky over Shortland's Bluff coloured by fireworks.Warning: May contain loud Surprises.
8am - Inter-faith Church Service in Point Lonsdale
10am - A series of sporting events and tournaments:
Football Match at Queenscliff Recreational Reserve
The Swan Island Mini Golf Tournament
Barefoot Bowls at the Queenscliff Lawn Bowls Club
11am, 1pm and 3pm- Guided Tour of Fort Queenscliff and Museum (Gold Coin Donation) Departing from the front gate of Fort Queenscliff
12 Noon - The Marine Discovery Centre Mobile 'Touch Tank' will be on display in Point Lonsdale.
12 Noon - Lunch in Point Lonsdale including a Farmers Market from Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, Wineries and Local not-for-profits. With performances by Victoria Police Pipes and Drums Band
3pm - Guided historical tour of Point Lonsdale Cemetery. Entry by Gold coin donation
